Born an American Child
Born an American child, I said the pledge, saluted the flag, and up held the words ““IN GOD WE TRUST””.
I learned to read, managed to write, and even copulated numbers till commencement night.
Becoming an American adult, I cast my vote, acquired my credit cards, and conformed to the ways of consumption and lust.
I was educated in disappointment, accomplished in debt, and emerged broken to see the dream had not been kept.
Reformed an American Christian, I speak His word, pray in His name, and have a new perception of the words “IN GOD WE TRUST”.
I am enlightened to His truths, edified by The Word, and yet the America once founded on this grand statement does not want it heard.
