The Preacher's Special
Subject: The Old Paths
Date: Mon, 12 Mar 2007
We had two great services yesterday. The attendance was down because of all the sickness going around. I didnít hear anyone admit that they forgot to set their clocks. Now that we have some more daylight, I hope you are ready to make a difference. Please start early this week planning to join us on Thursday evening @ 7PM for Soul-winning/visitation.
THE OLD PATHS 1 and 2 : by Danny Bezet
Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.
Part 1 : the Old Paths
ITíS A PATH OF SECURITY
No one is more secure than those that walk in the old paths of God, Jeremiah said itís the good way. Those that are right with God have no reason to fear, the Lord said He would be our strength and our fortress. He promised to fight our battles and never to leave us or forsake us.
I pray that God would give us a Church filled with Christians that have no need to hang their head in defeat or give in to the Devil, folks that are walking in the old paths of God and are secure.
Have you noticed those that are loudly proclaiming that we are heretics and that salvation is a temporary agreement between you and God? They have no real power over sin and the world because they have no security.
The old path is a secure path.
The world needs some ďOld PathĒ Christians:
Old Path Baptists
Old Path King James Bible believers
Old Path Separatists
Old Path Soul-Winners
Old Path families that read their Bible, attend Church, pray together, and impact others
Examine your path today and make sure you are saved and secure.
Part 2 : the Old Paths
IT IS A PATH OF SAFETY
The reckless new path of modern religion is not a path of safety, all you have to do is look at those that are on that path and what is happening in their lives. They are walking contrary to God and His Word, so they live in fear. But the Old Paths are the path of Godís good way and leads to rest. God has always promised safety to those that obeyed Him:
Wherefore ye shall do my statutes, and keep my judgments, and do them; and ye shall dwell in the land in safety.
If America would walk in the old paths of God, she could dwell safely in the land. If those that claim to be Christians would walk in the old paths of God, they could rest at night and dwell in safety.
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
While we are living in a world of unrest, we have great peace because we rest in Him and His Word. With His strong arm, He MAKETH us to dwell in safety. The longer I walk the old paths, the more secure I feel and the more I love them. The world will not draw me onto their so-called new path, because it is not a new path at all. It is the same old path to destruction that God delivered me from; I will not go back there.
Have a great day and Iíll see you in the morning, on time I hope!
ITíS A PATH OF SANCTIFICATION Part #3
This is another reason that the old path is not a crowded path today, it is reserved for those that are set apart for Godís use. The problem with many today is they want to be used for themselves, but God does not sanctify us for our own use. On this old path of sanctification, we walk, talk and behave different than the world. In other worse, we are fit for God to use any time or any where. There is so much to do for the Lord today, but much of it is not being done because there are so few that are on the Old Path. God will not use dirty vessels for His work.
That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;
Most of those on the new path have not learned to posses their bodies, they are out of control and have very little honor. I wonder how many in our Church are truly fit for Godís use. Is God able to touch you and call you out for His service TODAY?
ITíS A PATH OF SEEKING AND SUPPLICATION Part #4
Simply, itís a path of prayer. We would be different and the Church would be different if everyone walked in the old paths of seeking the Lord and prayer.
Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
I cried unto the LORD with my voice; with my voice unto the LORD did I make my supplication.
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
Iím not talking about a hand-clap for Jesus, or some moaning and groaning and swaying that goes on in many places today. Iím talking about getting alone and crying out to a Holy God in prayer.
For your self
For your family
For your Church
For your nation
For souls to be saved
ITíS A PATH OF SERVICE
This is where the real Christians are separated from the phonies. Those that walk in the old path of God will serve Him, those that walk in the new path of the world will serve themselves. This new path religion has us all worried about stress and burn-out, when God said that the greatest way to have rest, peace and have all your prayers answered is to serve God and others. The secret to the Christian life and having all that God wants you to have is investing your life in others.
Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.
Mine eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me: he that walketh in a perfect way, he shall serve me.
...by love serve one another.
Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.
God help us to return to the Old Paths of praying and serving.
"The Old Paths" was written by a retired minister who lives in Tennessee.
THE OLD PATHS :
I liked the old paths, when Moms were at home. Dads were at work. Brothers went into the army. And sisters got married BEFORE having children!
Crime did not pay; Hard work did; And people knew the difference.
Moms could cook; Dads would work; Children would behave..
Husbands were loving; Wives were supportive; And children were polite.
Women wore the jewelry; And Men wore the pants.
Women looked like ladies; Men looked like gentlemen; And children looked decent.
People loved the truth, And hated a lie;
They came to church to get IN, Not to get OUT!
Hymns sounded Godly; Sermons sounded helpful; Rejoicing sounded normal; And crying sounded sincere.
Cursing was wicked; Drinking was evil; and divorce was unthinkable.
The flag was honored; America was beautiful; And God was welcome!
We read the Bible in public; Prayed in school; And Preached from house to house
To be called an American was worth dying for; To be called a Christian was worth living for; To be called a traitor was a shame!
Sex was a personal word. Homosexual was an unheard of word, And abortion was an illegal word.
Preachers Preached because they had a message; And Christians rejoiced because they had the VICTORY!
Preachers preached from the Bible; Singers sang from the heart; And sinners turned to the Lord to be SAVED!
A new birth meant a new life; Salvation meant a changed life; Following Christ led to eternal life.
Being a Preacher meant you proclaimed the Word of God; Being a Deacon meant you would serve the Lord; Being a Christian meant you would live for Jesus; And being a sinner meant someone was praying for you!
Laws were based on the Bible; Homes read the Bible; And Churches taught the Bible.
Preachers were more interested in new converts, Than new clothes and new cars.
God was worshiped; Christ was exalted; and the Holy Spirit was respected.
Church was where you found Christians on the Lord's day, rather than in the garden, on the creek bank, on the golf course,
or being entertained somewhere else.
I still like the old paths the best.
